St. Francis Day Care Center (operated by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George) is licensed in Illinois to care for children from 6 weeks up to Pre-K age. We’re open year-round, Monday– Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with office hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We offer a Summer Program in the summer for children ages 4-6 (Pre-K 4 through Kindergarten Graduates).

St. Francis provides an educational program designed to meet each child’s developmental needs. Our teachers plan weekly balanced and flexible lesson plans that include language, religion, math, science, dramatic play, music, art, and plenty of time for active play and motor skill development.

Curriculum

St. Francis uses the Funnydaffer curriculum in all classrooms. Teachers use it as a foundation for their weekly lesson plans, incorporating additional materials and activities, especially for faith and religion, to enrich each child’s learning experience.

  • The Center offers an educational program geared to the developmental needs of each child
  • Classroom activities begin by 8:00 am each day.
  • The teachers carefully plan and coordinate a balanced, flexible curriculum offering conceptual experiences in language arts, math, science, dramatic play, music, and creative arts plus ample opportunity to develop small and large motor skills.

How Old Is Your Child?

We are so grateful for the gift of new life! Our littlest ones are cared for in a calm, nurturing space where they feel safe and
loved. Teachers support healthy development through gentle
routines, sensory play, and close attention to each child’s needs.
Infants between the ages of 6 weeks and 14 months are on
individual schedules, based on their needs. 15 months brings a
common nap time and a chance to explore both outside and in our
gym!

Toddlers learn best by doing! Through hands-on play, music, stories,
and outdoor time, children grow in independence while developing
early language and social skills. We also begin partnering with you
in the journey of toilet-training in our 2 year old classrooms!

Preschoolers are curious explorers. We encourage creativity and discovery with early literacy, numbers, science, and faith-filled activities that help children grow in confidence and joy. In order to be in our Pre-K 3 classroom, children should be toilet-trained.

Our Pre-K 4 program prepares children for kindergarten and beyond. With a balance of academics, play, and faith, children build strong skills, independence, and a love of learning.

Our Summer Program is designed especially for children who are already enrolled in our Pre-K 4 classroom.

If space allows, additional openings are offered in the following order of priority:

  • St. Francis graduates who have completed Pre-K 4 and are entering 1st grade
  • Current St. Francis families
  • General public registration
  • This ensures continuity of care for our Pre-K students while welcoming other children as space permits.

Why Families Choose Us

We want to help your child to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially by providing an environment that will stimulate and create interests.

Faith at the Core

At St. Francis, faith is woven naturally into our daily life together. We integrate religious activities and Catholic teaching into our learning through prayer, storytelling, celebrations of the liturgical seasons, and modeling Christ-like love in our interactions. Children of all faith backgrounds are warmly welcomed and respected, and our values of Faith, Joy, Trust, Unity, and Excellence guide how we care for one another each day.

Wholistic Curriculum

At St. Francis, we believe in educating the whole child — mind, body, and spirit. We nurture each child’s intellectual growth through meaningful learning experiences, emotional and social development through loving relationships, and physical well-being in a safe, structured environment. From language arts and creative play to science, music, and motor skills, our approach is balanced, developmentally sound, and rooted in faith, helping children grow in confidence, compassion, and joy.

Strong Home Partnership

A foundational belief in collaboration with parents for each child’s best growth. We use a parent communication app, KTConnect, which allows for connection between the Center and home. Depending on your child’s age, you will be able to see when your child eats, when they take a nap, when their diaper is changed, and more. All parents are able to see pictures and communicate with both their child’s classroom and the office! ALl billing is done through KTConnect as well.
